This procedure is indicated in low back pain not responding to conservative treatment. This procedure is performed as a day care procedure.
The patient needs to lie prone (on his stomach). The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. A spinal needle is inserted under image guidance near the affected nerve root. A mixture of local anaesthetic and steroid is injected into the facet joints. Patient is discharged an hour after the procedure.
