This condition is characterized by inflammation of joints in spine and proximal large joints such as shoulders and hips. There is formation of new bone resulting in fusion or ankylosis of these joints.
This condition commonly affects males in the age group of 20-40. Patients present with pain in the initial stages, followed by stiffness and deformity as the disease progresses.
