This procedure is helpful in relieving leg pain due to prolapsed intervertebral disc and lumbar canal stenosis. This is performed as a day care procedure.
The patient needs to lie prone (on his stomach). The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. A spinal needle is inserted under image guidance near the affected nerve root. A mixture of local anaesthetic and steroid is injected. Patient is discharged an hour after procedure.
